Nam Joo-hyuk and Kim Tae-ri Take the Friends-Turned Lovers Trope in ‘Twenty Five Twenty One’

SEOUL, South Korea—Korean superstars Nam Joo-hyuk and Kim Tae-ri are making a return on the screen, now as a friends who eventually fell in love in a story of grit and growth in Twenty Five, Twenty One.

Set amidst the East Asian Financial Crisis in 1998, Kim Tae Ri and Nam Joo Hyuk topbill the series as Na Hee Do and Back Yi Jin, who meet when they are 18 and 22 years old. It was then when they reached 21 and 25 when the two fall in love. The story charts the tale of five young people between 1998 to 2001 who lived thinking they would be together forever.

Directed by Jung Jeehyun, the drama also features other actors like Kim Ji Yeon (Ko Yu-rim), Choi Hyun Wook (Moon Ji-woong), and Lee Ju Myoung (Ji Seung-wan).
